The vision for The Drowning Tree came to me during a very dark time as I was navigating my newly diagnosed PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder) and it symbolizes a short poem that I wrote.
there lives a small tree alone
on an island of her own.
the water slowly rises, tickling her roots.
it becomes less playful, reaching her trunk
and she can't keep up.
does this happen to the trees on neighboring shores?
is it just her?
are they all watching her drown?
"keep growing" they whisper over the wind
so she keeps growing & hopes they're as wise as they seem.
